ABIDING is the Key to Becoming….
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty
Homemaking is Ministry
Have I forgotten my first area of ministry? Homemaking is a ministry often overlooked, with far too few thank you’s and pats on the back; many get discouraged on seeing it as such. To serve in one’s home, might just be the most humble of them all. With the breakdown of family as we once knew it, many struggle in silence to continue the ministry of homemaker.
Homemakers can be both male and female, but today I hope to encourage women. As the chores seem endless, the errands, the laundry, the cooking and cleaning I want you to know that God sees all you are putting your hands to. He will bless the work of your hands.
May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us– yes, establish the work of our hands. (Psalm 90:17)
You are Valueable
This is not a normal topic for me, but the Lord has placed it so heavily on my heart. So many women, mothers, and wives juggle jobs, errands, ministries, and the homemaking and yet feel that they serve no purpose. That’s such a lie, you have purpose, you are so valuable to the kingdom of God, to those around you, and to society. It’s not difficult to see the breakdown of family that has been happening over the last decade. Can you imagine if women are completely taken out of the homemaker role? Its heartbreaking to see how the enemy can take such a place of servanthood and ministry and try to make it of no effect.
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Prov. 31:10
Those dishpan hands are beautiful to Him. The hands that add a salve and a bandaid to the ouchies, the hands that scrape the side of the oven as the bread goes in, the hands that fold each clothing item, your hands are blessed and beautiful. The hands that hold the hard working husbands, those hands are beautiful to the Lord! God wants to heal and restore family! Some still hold traditional family roles and values. Husbands still go out the door early in the morning and work long hard hours, while wives tend the home and children. Regardless of the roles in your household, know that God values all you do, even the things that seem small!
All the hats women wear these days, taxi driver, chef, nurse, teacher, etc…I want to remind you today that you wear a crown!
Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. Prov. 31:25
A wise woman builds her house!
Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.( Prov. 14:1)
By seeking God for her self and her family. By creating an environment as unto the Lord. It’s a ministry!
In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends to poverty. (Prov. 14:23 ESV)
His amazing grace is available during tough times! I can remember coming in from double shifts waiting tables, exhausted and just wanting to rest, eat, and see my children before bedtime. Working mothers face many trials. Stay at home mothers face trials as well. We all face hardships at various times; but His grace is sufficient.
As christian Homemakers we have the potential to turn our homes into havens. Titus 2 speaks of aged women and young women. There are biblical principles for womanhood that God intends us to pass down from generation to generation.
Proverbs 31 speaks of the virtuous woman. In this modern day era many women seek to be Deborah’s, Jaels, Esther’s etc but I pray we do not lose the beauty of being Titus 2 women or Proverbs 31 women.
Creating a Haven
Adding worship, prayer, and praise can cultivate a dwelling place for the Spirit of God to rest in our homes.
He who dwells in the secret place, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. (Ps. 91:1)
We add to our atmosphere by the activities we allow there. Powerfully, in our home we have seen the difference between much television and busyness verses purposeful creating a space for His Spirit to dwell. Worship is powerful to our environment.
Have you ever considered your working, doing household chores, extra clean up as unto the Lord being a form of worship. Since we reap what we sow, why not do those things intentionally in full expectation of reaping a harvest.
Cleaning out closets and sowing to the needy can be a great seed for deliverance and healing!
Theres an old saying, ” Cleanliness is next to godliness” many think this is in the Bible. Well it’s not actually a scripture, but it is a good principle! Ever feel stuck spiritually? Don’t know what to do next or even what to study? Clearing out some clutter can really help reset your focus!
A fresh clean look, a rearrangement of things giving a new perspective can help bring just that; a fresh perspective!
As your soul- your mind, will, emotions prosper- you will want to remove old things, broken things from your life and your soul.
Stained, blemished, tattered and torn- have no use for those anymore! A practical picture of deliverance, healing and soul prosperity!
Our families, Our homes are worth Our valuing and as unto the Lord.
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. (Colossians 3:23 NLT)
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. (3 John 2)
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. (Roman’s 14:17)
A clean, organized space brings inspiration! My children are adults now, but when they were young; one loved to clean and organize and the other just didnt! Many moms have this issue! There are some great motivators, chore charts, incentives, ideas all over the internet; but once the Lord began to show me soul issues tied to these areas of disorganized mess it gave me a new value on teaching my children to take care of their space!
There is now therefore no condemnation! Thank God He added that to the Bible! ( see Roman’s 8) So often we fall into condemnation, even from self, pointing our own finger at our self thinking we are not getting enough done! God said no condemnation to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose! We must be merciful and gracious to ourselves and one another! Doing what we can as we can and all unto the Lord. Dont forget to love you while your loving those around you!
Giving is more than money!
(Luke 6:38) Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. This was my grandmothers favorite passage as she would sow every dollar bill she could. It was a dollar here and there to some, maybe the value of an ice cream cone to the kids; however she sowed faithfully- full of faith!
I am blessed to have a mother who does things like quilt for the homeless, cook for the broken, she just serves constantly. I cannot possibly keep up with some of these things, nor do I enjoy the same stuff. However I can see her life lessons displayed in serving and loving as a kingdom woman. Whichever ways you choose, I choose, we need not feel insecure or inferior like we do not measure up. It’s our Father’s eyes that matter!
It is the little things that will help bring the big breakthroughs! We cannot lose the simple truths and biblical principals!
I have grown to learn that stewardship is a big deal to the Lord! I suppose our grandmothers and mothers knew all along that there is truth in cleanliness being next to godliness! Take care of the little things faithfully, and God will give you more!
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
(Galatians 6: 7-9)
